Happy and Scared, but More Happy

Cons

vomiting and nausea...and, uh, did I say vomiting?

horse pills prenatal vitamins

fuddy duddy maternity clothes

heartburn

swollen ankles

no sushi, Brie, or margaritas

tender boobies

insomnia

the awful "I-have-to-pee-right-now-get-the-hell-outta-my-way" feeling every 15 minutes

constipation

weight gain

vaginal exams... every. month.

contractions. on Pitocin. with a failed epidural.

vaginal stitches

sitz baths

colickyness

stretch marks

cracked nipples

sleep deprivation

Pros
That new baby smell

A brother or sister for Little Guy

Clearly, the pros outweigh the cons, so it's official. We're trying for #2.

Good luck honey!

I hated being preggers, but the end result is so worth everything you have to go through to get there. Maybe your epidural will work this time, cause that totally SUCKS!

Yay! Here's one to add to your "pro" list. Pregnancy makes for good blog material.

Just think about how good that first new-mommy margarita will taste after 9 months without!!! I got wasted on half a midori sour after my first--I don't think I've been out since though...

Good for you! It's so ironic that even though I'm done having babies and I didn't enjoy being pregnant I miss being pregnant and feel a twinge of envy when I hear about others. I think I just miss that time of my life so I will live vicariously through you. Happy baby making!

I'm signing anon because blogger won't let me comment on non beta blogs. Totally sucks!

Thanks everyone!! Do you think it's a good omen or a bad omen that the day I mention this on my blog is the same day that TomKat finally unveils Suri to the world?

Yay! Good luck! Look at it this way. If Little Guy gets the toilet paper going again, you'll have a cushion for your knees when the urge to see your lunch again comes upon you.

I'll have to live vicariously through you this year since we've postponed our #2 to next year.

Now if only I could convince my hubby that we need another one!! Well, I should probably wait until he actually finds another job, and we have health insurance huh?

Is it totally sick that one of the reasons I want a baby right now is so I can be pregnant with my blogger friends? You're like the 4th one!!

Oh, and lets not forget that I'd get to put one of those cute pregnancy counters on my blog!!!LOL>

Ah. I envy you. I would LOVE to have another, but it was an extreme stroke of luck to have the one. She is seven now, but if there was any way I could afford it, wrangle it, I would get a sibling for her.

I sometimes still dream about her as an infant and wake up and can still smell her head. Ah..baby head. Nothing like it.

Waya & Christina: may you both also have good luck trying! And, of course, fun...may you also have lots of FUN trying.

Good for you! Siblings are a great thing (once they get past the ages of 3 and 5...not a good period for my kids). But we are beyond that now and they adore each other. The belly laughs I hear from the backyard about the goofiest things are music to my ears. Best of luck to you!

Congrats!!!!!! You are braver than I sister! I hated being preggo too!

But, FYI- motherhood really does have some cuter stuff now- and also- Mimi Maternity- a little on the more expensive side- but hit the sale rack at the back. Very cute.

And old navy has some cute and comfy (and cheap) maternity clothes!!

Best of luck. Enjoy the trying!!!

And you're right the pros by far out weight the cons...Although, I do miss the larger boobies.

My husband and I were too chicken to actually start trying for a second. We thought about it for about a month and then decided to wait. Seven years later I told a friend that when the doctor asked me at my next well woman exam if I were ready to make a permanent decision regarding birth control I was going to say yes. You guessed it, two weeks later I found out I was pregnant. Go figure.

Congratulations on the decision to start for the sibling. Because mine are eight years apart, I can tell you it would be nice sometimes if there were closer in age.

I look forward to hearing all about it here at MotR!

Worth every second. And you know it too. It is so fun to see your kids grow up and love each other.
BTW you CAN have Brie. As long as it is pasteurized which most are that are sold in the US. I found that out with my last pregnancy. WOo hoo!

9:52 PM
Blogger Cristina said...

I can eat BRIE?? No shit! How about gorgonzola? Feta? Do they come pasteurized?

(You made my day.)

Blogger carrie said...

Yeah! Have fun trying and best of luck--you are right, that new baby smell and a sibling far outweigh all the cons (which, thank god, only last 40 weeks)!

You can check with your doctor but from what I understand you can eat any soft cheese as long as it is pasteurized. One doc told me just don't eat the rind on the brie. Eat up girl!

ohhhh, not just new baby smell, but new baby toes, and new baby fingers, and new baby belly to blow raspberries on, and new baby nose, and new baby eyelashes, and new baby....everything. I hated being pregnant and so would've opted for a test tube pregnancy, sorry if I've offended, but after giving birth I was ready to do it all again. It's a big decision. Good luck to you.
