Infatuated

This feels wrong. I shouldn't have such strong feelings for you. It's just not right. Visiting you once a week isn't enough anymore. I find myself wanting to drop in more often, even when I know I shouldn't.

But I love you - I love everything about you. One could say that I'm addicted to you. But I can't help myself. I just get a wonderful feeling when I visit you. I get excited at the prospect. You bring so many good things into my life.

Lucky for my husband, you're a grocery store.

Yes, that's right, I'm in love with YOU Trader Joes. And here are my top 5 reasons why:

5. One of your friendly staff members thought that I was Little Guy's sister, rather than his mother. Some would be offended by this, but I was like, "Cool! He must think I'm like 19 or something!" I must have been looking gooood that day. Maybe it was my new sweatsuit?? Hmmmm.

4. You've begun selling a product called Sipping Chocolate - a "decadent chocolate elixir, not quite hot cocoa, hardly chocolate milk." No, this is a chocolate experience. And I live for new and exciting chocolate experiences. So, thank you.

3. When Little Guy demands to pull apart the bananas and throw them out of the cart, causing me to accidentaly run one over and splatter it all over the ground, your friendly staff rush over to clean it up and refuse to let me pay for it. Cuz they're nice like that.

2. You rarely, if ever, sell anything with Blue #1, Red #40, monosodium glutamate, or other toxic and probably deadly-when-consumed-in-small-quantities-over-an-entire-lifetime artifical colors and flavors. You rock.

1. And finally, and most importantly, you have magic balloons. That's right. Magic. Little Guy gets one every time he visits you and when we come home, he walks around the house with it for the longest time. He loves it. But I love it more. You know why? Because the other day, I accidentally realized that when Little Guy is holding his magic balloon, I can change his diaper without a scream, twist, or tantrum. He just looks up at the magic balloon in awe and allows me to change him. It's magic, I tell you. And I owe it all to you, TJs. xxoo

We got the same magic balloon last night! Sigh. I too cannot quit Trader Joe's. The closest one is two towns away from me and yet I make a special trip just for the friendly guys in the loud, printed shirts, the international frozen foods, the cheap Pirates Booty (seriously, it's cheaper there) and the magic balloons.

If loving TJ's is wrong then I don't want to be right.

Before we moved, we had a TJ's close by. SF lived for the balloons...Now we do Whole Foods...good food, not a balloon in sight. We have to keep SF occupies with the fresh produce.

No Trader Joe's...
So I suppose I do not know what I am missing from my life...

We have no TJ's....I've never actually been inside one. But they are all the rage in BlogLand, I've read several different posts about them. :)

oh, ours deflated overnight last night. the magic, needless to say, went with it.

but! there's more magic where that one came from!! and we're gonna go get some today. we need some magic around here.

p.s. magic magic magic. (I'm hoping repeating the word enough will increase the odds that it will really visit us, in a prolonged fashion.)

At our TJ's they give the kids stickers, not balloons, but they seem to keep them quite happy all the same.

And this sipping chocolate? I MUST go get some of this magical elixir today! Thanks for the tip!

Mmmmm. Sipping chocolate. Is it the same as the Chantico they used to sell at Starbucks before they evilly, evilly discontinued it?

I too have a crush on Trader Joe's! Yours has balloons?!?!? Ours gives out stickers!

TRADER JOE'S is the best place, EVER! At the one near me they have this thing where they hide a stuffed monkey in the store somewhere and kids get a prize if they find it. Now, I don't have kids old enough to need to be distracted in the grocery store but if I did I tell you what ... I'd be tehre every day. Also their frozen foods are SOOOOOOOO good. Have you tried the ginger soy carrots? I'm drooling just thinking about them.

I love Trader Joes too. I am just starting to discover all its wonders. They have the BEST prices on wine. I will never buy wine anywhere else now. I am spoiled. And I MUST MUST MUST find that sipping chocolate. I almost climaxed just hearing about it. TMI?

I love TJs too. Not only for the balloons (which have been life savers), but also for the great selection of soy products that both my boys need since they are allergic to dairy.

And the cheap wine is a BONUS!

O.M.G. My aunt and uncle live in NM and they brought a ton of stuff from TJ's with them when they visited us last year. We don't have TJ's here and it's a good thing we don't -- I'd have a SERIOUS weight problem if that chain was here. Those cocoa almonds? *drool*

You're right. It IS a magical place. R. loves the balloons and the stickers at the check-out. Plus, have you tried to frozen gnocchi? 7 minutes in the microwave, add salad in a bag, and it's the perfect meal! :)

Hi, checking in again to say I just got back from TJ's, where I made them dig out their brand new shipment of sipping chocolate from the back store room. They literally broke open the box of about 60 units for me at the register, where I promptly purchased three.

It reminds me of a cross between Starbucks' Chantico and warm brownie mix. But in a good way. Thanks again for the good word, bird.

By the way, have you guys seen these Trader Joe's Love blogs yet?

Pundit Mom: we had the frozen gnocchi last night for dinner! The gorgonzola ones. Love them!

Karingal: that is great that you got the sipping chocolate! :) I hope you like it. And thanks for the TJ blogs. I didn't even know they existed!

Aaaah Trader Joe's and their fabulous ginger cookies!! We are addicted to those and the sparkling lemonade isn't half bad either, but what I wouldn't have given for a "magic balloon" during the diaper days! You must go more often...

Okay, first I threw a mini-fit of jealousy at all of you that live near TJs. I used to live in the Bay Area, and I have family there, and I SO *heart* TJS!!!

Then, I decided that maybe you lovely ladies can help me campaign to get them to open some in Texas. PLEASE?!

Even if you won't do it for me, remember I'm "Stephanie" from Jenny's blog. That's right, I'm her neighbor! And you all love Jenny, right?!!

So do it for Jenny. She's NEVER been to a TJs, and, well, that's just WRONG!!!

Thank you. Jealousy fit over. I SO want to be your friend. All of you. *shameless ass-kissing*

My boys love those balloons, too. I've only taken them once because it's much easier for me to go by myself during my lunch hour since it's five minutes from where I work. The day we went, though...those balloons went to dinner with us and to bed with them;> They wouldn't let them go.

Hi Stephanie!

Thanks for visiting here and introducing yourself!

I live in Northern CA so we used to be almost neighbors kinda. How cool!

Anyway, I am sorry for the lack of TJ's where you live now. I know Jenny would love them so I'm all for helping you guys start a TJ Texas campaign!
