Little Guy Develops Manners
Ever since Little Guy's close brush with the f-word back in July, I've been ramping up my efforts to work on his manners. I routinely ask him to say "please" and "thank you" when we're at home with the hopes that these phrases will become automatic pretty soon.
So last week when we were at the in-laws house, I was a bit disappointed to hear the following exchange between Little Guy and his aunt:
Yeah, so, I guess we've got a little more work to do.
So last week when we were at the in-laws house, I was a bit disappointed to hear the following exchange between Little Guy and his aunt:
Little Guy (pointing to a toy on the bookshelf): Firetruck!
Aunt: Do you want the firetruck?
Little Guy: FIRETRUCK!
Aunt: What's the magic word?
Little Guy: Uhhhhh...."Want"!
Yeah, so, I guess we've got a little more work to do.

watch this: I'm gonna say something BRILLIANT and ASTOUNDINGLY ORIGINAL in reference to this post.
on second thought, nahhh.
because, OMIGOD that's hilarious (and so relatable. J has done the exact. same. thing. every few minutes for the last coupla weeks).
*lol* It's a start!
Too funny!
Did she crack up when he said that?
I would have.
So I just want to make sure I have this right...my husband is your son?!?!
Leah has always been great with please and thank you - but the trade off is because of my horrible trash mouth, she tends to curse off other drivers in the car, in her cozy coupe, and at the store while riding the 50cent (ridiculous!) rides outside.
Well, at least he's honest! ;)
My boys used to say fruck. They had no clue so we'd say truck and guess what? At 16 and 18 they enunciate perfectly. WHOHOO.
He's right. The magic word is want.
Using Need, Like, Hate, or anything else would totally change his meaning....
But I thought "want" was the magic word.
That's adorable. At least he is honest is right. That's the first step in having manners :)

Maybe the little guy is on to something... I think "please" has been played out. I'm going with "want."

At least he didn't say "Give me the f*cking fire truck, b*tch"....
See? Doesn't that make you feel better?
:-)
Sorry, that was just wrong.
I was raised with far too little understanding that it's ok to want, now I am a full grown doormat. I kinda like his answer.
Hahaha! Hilarious! I think that's my magic word when I want something too.
that was freaking hilarous!!!
