Holiday Shopping Tip #63

If you're crazy enough to shop at the mall over the holidays this year, I would like to provide you with the following free advice:
Under no circumstances should you enter a Bath and Body Works while you are hungry. Just don't do it.
If you do, prepare to spend the next few months smelling like baked goods. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Is it wrong to lick a tester at the store? Cuz I soooo wanted to give it a lick.

Is it wrong to want to get "passionate" with a bottle of shampoo? Not if it smells like Pecan Pie. Mmmmmmm.

Finally, someone has bottled hot, wicked chocolate that I can smear all over my body. Ahhhhhh.

They also have spiced apple rapture, crazy caramel corn, pumpkin pie paradise, and spicy gingerbread. And while I know there is a big difference between eating these foods and slathering my entire body with them, my growling stomach got the best of me and I will, therefore, be spending the next few months smelling like holiday dessert foods.

Please, please don't let this happen to you.

Delicious! I love Bath and Body Works but they are not in Canada! Can you imagine? And they won't even ship to anywhere outside of the USA. So unfair.

It is likely that you will be licked at all the holiday parties that you go to.

What? No Bath and Body Works in Canada? Well, now I know what I'm sending all my Canadian blogging buds for Christmas. Spiced apple rapture lip balm anyone? :)

I don't know. I don't think I like the idea of my husband coming after me with a knife and fork after applying that stuff.

I think I'm the only woman who does not like Bath and Body Works. It's just too overwhelming. If I do wear perfume, it's Calvin Klein's Escape for Women, but that's because of my days in juvie. ;)

Oh man! I was in B&BW last week and I tried the Pumpkin lotion thinking it would smell wonderful. It was disgusting. It made me want to burn my nose off. Yuck.

But I love some of the other lotions, like cucumber melon!

~d: Yes, i followed the link from her picture to your site to check it out. That was very creative!

Dana: I actually didn't smell the pumpkin one so I will steer clear of that one. Next time, go smell the crazy caramel corn. That is to die for.

I haven't been to B&BW in so long, but when I have the money, I splurge on all the Warm Vanilla Sugar products. My boys will use it too, then we all smell like cookies! And the lip balm is delicious. (Ha, I typed lip blam)

Kinda gives new meaning to the retort, "Eat me."

(Seriously though, I LOOOVE the baked-goods scents. Also dangerous in candle-form.)

holy crap. That is dangerous. That could also give me some other "fun" benefits. But there are no bath and body works here in canada!

I agree. I'm especially drawn to scents that are food-related. Vanilla/cinnamon/almond/cake. A trip to B&BW could be deadly for me.

I think you should never enter a bath and body works...well...ever...

But then, I have a penis. ;)

I have this Angel Food Cake lip gloss from there that a friend in CO sent me and I want to eat my face every time I have it on. So, so yummy.

It's probably a good thing this particular chain has yet to make it to Canada.

Steven: Yes, I can imagine men would feel uncomfortable in a B&BW. Kinda like they feel when they're walking around in Victoria's Secret.

Jen: ha! It's like a hot fudge sundae. You're right!

Radioactive Girl: see, this is why I have to have a daughter. I just don't see myself taking Little Guy there for mother/son bonding outings when he's older. I mean, I would but something tells me he won't be interested.

Mamatulip: Angel food cake is so yummy! I could do a lip gloss. Mmmm. Thanks for stopping by!

Your "growing stomach"? Did I totally miss something? Um, you're trying for baby #2, right? Is there something you need to tell us, or was that just a Freudian Slip?

Hmmmm? Hmmmm? Hmmmmmmmmmmm?

Okay, I'm a moron. I just reread it and realized there was an "L" in "growing".

Damn girl. I was all hopeful. Guess the Freudian Slip was mine.

I bought similar goodies for my aunt and my cousin last year - they were from the Philosophy website. Mmmmmmm, good!

I have managed to avoid BBW, but I really need to get some yummy-smelling lotion, which motivates me to actually apply it. Out here in this dry weather, lotion is not optional.

Thank you for the warning! Fortunately, I usually carry a kid snack or three in my bag. Low blood sugar is not pretty in our family.

Still, I do want that hot chocolate stuff!

I hope I don't run into you in an elevator right before lunch. If you smelled like cinnamon buns and chocolate, I would probably lick you. That would just come across as creepy.

I don't go into bath and body anymore because I will walk out with $75 worth of stuff I didn't know I needed.

Andrea: Yep. It's defnitely "growling" not "growing"! LOL

Beck's Mommy: I really, really like you, but I have to agree that that WOUlD be creepy if you licked me. :)

Weird. I have never understood that. I don't want to smell like food! It remindes me of working in a fast food restuarnt and smelling like fries. Is it only me who has that hangup?
However, chocolate scented candles maybe...

I am all for foodie body lotions and potions. I have chocolate fondue perfume and Tutti Dolci's body lotion in some scent (flavor?!) that smells like yellow cake baking and icing. All bath and body works too!

I also am into the food scented lotions and bubble baths.
One time my daughter tasted my vanilla sugar lotion. OK, she actually ate it...and had diarrhea all the next day. That was enough to keep me from tasting it myself, although I was till quite tempted!*sigh*

I'll have to stay away. Those smells are too tempting for someone on a diet. Great gift though for my bitchy sister in law who is also dieting. I know I'm bad. Very bad. I can't help myself!

You may want to tell your readers about Environmental Working Group's cosmetic safety database, Skin Deep.

Thanks, anonymous. That sounds like a great site. Although I do love all these products, I often wonder about the safety of putting these types of chemicals on my hair every day. Just please don't tell me I have to give up my crazy caramel corn shampoo! :-)
