Woman in Training

It recently dawned on me that I am fairly out of shape and that if I am to be serious about having any energy whatsoever to engage in the *ahem* extracurricular activities that I will be performing very regularly now in light of my recent decision, that I would have to get into shape.

So I followed my big decision with a slightly less momentous, but still significant, decision and I opened a gym membership.

Today was my first ball-breaking, vulva-breaking(?) session, and as a result of my workout, I now, ironically, have like no energy left for the extracurricular activities that the gym workouts are meant to support. And perhaps more importantly, I am so out of steam that I can barely craft a coherent post tonight or do much blogging at all.

However, I wanted to at least say thank you for this Crazy Hip Blog Mama of the Week award. I knew you all thought I was crazy, but I’ve never been called “hip” before in all my life. And I kinda like it. So thanks. I think I'll hang on to it for a week. It kinda feels good.

OK. I’m gonna go collapse onto my bed now.

Oh, one last thing. Anyone know where I can get a good pair of leg warmers? Cuz I hear that 80's clothes are making a comeback, and I wanna look good when I go to the gym.

I keep saying I'm going to start working out, but I however, haven't got the energy to even open the gym membership :)

Good luck to you! I wish I could say that you've inspired me, but it would take an act of God at this point . . .

Congratulations, crazy lady. Funny timing that now you're actively trying to get rid of the "hip" part.

Good luck with that. Let us know how it goes 'cause I could use a little bit of inspiration. Or I could just sit on my couch and eat Cheetos.

Good for you for joining the gym!! I did it about a year ago and was exhausted every time I went to a body sculpting class. It takes a long time to get a very unfit body fit. I'm okay now, tons of energy.

One of the big secrets about trying to lose weight is don't come home starving from the gym and think, oh, I've burned off all those calories, I can have a piece of cake. That's what I thought and I didn't lose weight for the whole year!!

At least you HAVE the gym membership instead of just thinking about one like the rest of us. No pain, no gain, baby!! (I, however, prefer to keep my vulva intact, thank you very much!) lol!

You should feel better after a while and then you actually will have more energy from going to the gym. That vulva breaking phrase cracked me up!

I think we're on the same schedule here. I got the baby fever recently and am now on the brink of obession and I'd planned on calling the nearby gym today to talk to them about their childcare. Good luck with both.

If you find the leg warmers I'll be requiring a photo. I bought myself a jeans jacket yesterday...seriously.

Be careful what you wish for, Mother of the Week. I'm sure a lot of us could rain some leg warmers on you. I probably haven't cleaned out my exercise gear since the 80's.

Congratulations on the CHBM recognition. Knew you had it in you!

And leg warmers... yeah. Found some in my basement. That was scary. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with Flashdance-style coming back.

I always think about trying the gym thing and my wallet and my lazzy voice reminds me that I'm broke. I hope it works out for you and you get your energy back for "activities"!

Good for you! I always feel so much better when I exercise (she says as she finishes a bag of chips).

And I have had vulva-breaking bike rides, so I think it's a valid term.

I checked out your interview over at Hip Momma Crazy Whatever. It was really interesting to read that very few of your "real life" people know about your blog and that you are a very introverted person.

I run around telling whoever I can trap, "Hey! I have a blog. I have sleep apnea. I had a colonoscopy." I think I scare people! ;)

Good for you on the exercise. I have practically been ordered to get in shape by the doctor. I did start eliminating refined flour/rice from my diet. No exercise yet, though.

"Vulva-breaking" There has got to be a description that doesn't make me clench up so tightly! ;)

Just be hip. Don't sprain your hips. And don't wear leg warmers. Even if they're hip.

I saw leg warmers in Target the other day.

I had to lay off the intensive gym classes for the same reason you cite --- I would get too word down to do the deed! I have opted by less exhausting activities like yoga and long walks. I am not developing a killer sculpted bod but I have been managing to have a little energy at bedtime.

You are so hilarious. Yea, use the word Vulva - it rates! ha ha. the picture did bring back memories of those hideous leg warmers. And you wil eventually have more energy if you go tot he gym, but it just takes time and its hard at first..but keep at it!!
